About Jo Sweetman
Hi, I am Jo Sweetman, owner and founder of Rehab Xcel Wexford. My journey to becoming a Sport Therapist started when I made a career change a few years ago. I obtained my personal training diploma and pre and post natal coaching certificate. Although I enjoy helping people achieve their fitness goals I wanted to learn more about injury rehabilitation.
My previous experience with my own injuries highlighted that there is a large gap in high standard injury treatment and rehabilitation. I received my first class honours degree in Sports Therapy and pride myself in giving first class injury assessment and treatment plan to stay injury and pain free.
In addition to earning a first class degree in Sports Therapy, I am also licensed to perform dry needling and manual therapy. My extensive training allows me to offer a comprehensive approach to injury treatment, focusing on conservative measures such as manual therapy, dry needling,
sports massage, and strength and conditioning.
Research has shown that these methods can be highly effective for both acute and chronic pain.
My Experience
In addition to running my Sport Injury Clinic, I have had the privilege of working with the New Zealand Football team as a Sport Therapist during the friendly game with Ireland and also have worked at the Dublin Marathon. These experiences have widened my skill set and deepened my commitment to providing excellent care to athletes and individuals alike.
I firmly believe that injury rehabilitation and strength training are interconnected. My goal is not only to treat pain but also to strengthen the body to prevent future injuries. By addressing the root causes of musculoskeletal issues and implementing personalised rehabilitation programs, I help clients achieve lasting recovery and improved performance.
